Dh500-Million Investment in Sharjah Education to Bring New Schools and Nurseries Across the Emirate

The projects are being implemented by the Sharjah Public Works Department in coordination with the Sharjah Private Education Authority and cover a wide range of educational, academic, sports, residential and support facilities.

Dh500 Million Investment Expands Sharjah’s Education Infrastructure

The Dh500-million investment in Sharjah education represents a broad portfolio of construction, expansion and maintenance projects across different areas of the emirate.

The coordination between the Sharjah Public Works Department and the Sharjah Private Education Authority is intended to ensure that new and upgraded facilities meet licensing, safety, operational and technical standards.

The programme also supports the continued development of private education and early childhood services as Sharjah’s population and demand for educational facilities continue to grow.

New School Completed in Sharjah City

In Sharjah city, the Mehzb School project has been completed on a 30,000-square-metre site with capacity for 400 students.

The school was delivered in just 60 days and includes academic, medical, cultural and sports facilities.

Its administration building covers 981 square metres and contains seven offices and a meeting room. The campus also has a dedicated medical section featuring a clinic and isolation room.

The early childhood building can accommodate 150 children. It includes six classrooms, a library, a multipurpose area and facilities for staff and medical services.

For students in Grades 1 to 4, the school has a separate building with 10 classrooms and capacity for 250 students. It also includes a library, multipurpose area, staff facilities and a medical room.

The campus further features a 117-seat theatre that can also serve as a multipurpose hall, in addition to science and computer laboratories, a cafeteria and other supporting facilities.

Early Childhood Centres Receive Additional Capacity

Several early childhood facilities have also been expanded as part of the emirate’s education infrastructure programme.

At Al Ruqaybah 1, four new classrooms were added over an area of 770 square metres. The expansion has increased the facility’s capacity by 96 children.

Meanwhile, Shaghrafa 1 centre in Al Rahmaniya received six additional classrooms covering approximately 1,000 square metres. The expansion provides capacity for another 150 children.

These projects are aimed at strengthening early childhood education capacity while providing dedicated and appropriately designed spaces for younger learners.

Nursery Maintenance and Upgrades

Maintenance work has also been completed at Al Qulaya Nursery.

The project included the installation of approximately 1,500 square metres of vinyl flooring, 23 doors, 700 square metres of suspended ceilings and 250 square metres of tiled flooring.

The nursery also received 15 car parking shades, alongside internal and external painting works. Air-conditioning and electrical systems were upgraded as part of the maintenance programme.

The improvements are intended to provide children and staff with safer, more comfortable and functional facilities.

Four Government Nurseries Under Construction

Construction is under way on four government nurseries across Sharjah.

One of the facilities is being developed for the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority in Al Abbar. Additional nurseries are being constructed in Al Muwarraq, Kshisha and Al Noaf.

The projects form part of the emirate’s wider effort to expand access to early childhood facilities and accommodate growing demand for nursery services.

Pakistani Islamic School Receives Major Maintenance Works

Maintenance work has also been completed at the Pakistani Islamic School in Al Ghubaiba, covering approximately 8,000 square metres.

The works included internal and external painting and treatment of cracks in concrete elements. Waterproofing works were also carried out, while toilets and suspended ceilings were renovated.

Additional repairs were completed on floors, doors, windows and metal cabinets.

The project also included improvements to outdoor play areas, basketball courts, boundary walls and gates, helping upgrade both educational and recreational areas at the school.

Victoria International School in Al Dhaid Progresses

In Al Thumamah, Al Dhaid, construction of Victoria International School has reached 73 per cent completion.

The development includes administration and theatre buildings, a multipurpose sports hall, kindergarten and nursery facilities and classroom buildings.

The project is expected to provide a broad range of educational and extracurricular facilities once completed.

At Al Bustan Nursery, work to cover the courtyard and maintain the facility has reached 84 per cent completion. The project includes installation of a canopy and comprehensive maintenance of the existing building.

Education Projects Advance in Al Madam

Al Madam is also benefiting from the Dh500-million investment in Sharjah education.

The Sharjah Public Works Department is constructing Tuwaila Nursery and has completed the first phase of an expansion at Khalifa Al Hamza American School.

The completed phase includes a 145-square-metre ground-floor extension for boys. The new area contains a classroom, activity room and supervisor’s room.

A larger 365-square-metre extension has been completed for girls, providing four classrooms, a laboratory and a supervisor’s room.

Additional facilities are also being developed to support students’ dining requirements.

A 340-square-metre main dining hall is under construction and will include a kitchen, food service area and seating for 80 students.

A separate 250-square-metre dining hall is also being built for kindergarten students, with capacity for 50 children.

The new classrooms were handed over at the beginning of the academic year. The dining facilities and remaining buildings are scheduled for completion in November.

Kalba Sees Major School and Nursery Developments

In Kalba, the second phase of Victoria School has been completed.

The expansion includes a laboratory and classroom building, a theatre, separate libraries for boys and girls and a sports complex.

The sports complex features a multipurpose hall and a semi-Olympic swimming pool, adding significant sports and recreational capacity to the school.

Secondary-level facilities at Al Sidra Private School have also been completed.

These facilities include two enclosed sports halls serving boys and girls, additional classrooms and specialised physics, chemistry, biology and computer laboratories.

The school has also received prayer rooms, clinics, staff rooms and other supporting facilities.

New Nursery Facilities in Kalba

Kalba has also seen the completion of Al Ghail Nursery.

The facility provides classrooms for children from infancy through four years of age, together with indoor and outdoor play areas.

It also includes multipurpose halls, reception areas, kitchens and other supporting facilities designed for early childhood services.

Construction of Khour Kalba Nursery is currently 40 per cent complete.

Once finished, the nursery will provide classrooms for infants through four-year-old children, along with indoor and outdoor play areas, multipurpose halls, reception areas, kitchens and supporting facilities.

Al Lulu’iya Nursery Completed in Khorfakkan

In Khorfakkan, Al Lulu’iya Nursery has been completed with 10 classrooms and capacity for 200 children.

The facility includes administrative rooms, a central kitchen and dedicated indoor and outdoor play areas.

The nursery adds to the emirate’s growing network of early childhood facilities and reflects the wider focus on providing modern educational environments outside Sharjah city.

Sharjah Expands Education Capacity Across the Emirate

The Dh500-million investment in Sharjah education covers projects ranging from new schools and nurseries to classroom expansions, sports complexes, laboratories, theatres, dining halls and extensive maintenance programmes.

The projects span Sharjah city as well as Al Dhaid, Al Madam, Kalba and Khorfakkan, demonstrating a broad approach to improving education infrastructure across the emirate.

By combining new construction with the expansion and refurbishment of existing facilities, Sharjah is increasing capacity while upgrading the quality and functionality of educational spaces.

The programme also places significant emphasis on early childhood education, with several nurseries and early childhood centres either completed, expanded or under construction.

With new facilities continuing to come online and ongoing projects progressing toward completion, the Dh500-million investment in Sharjah education is set to strengthen the emirate’s education infrastructure and provide students and younger children with more modern, safer and better-equipped environments for learning and development.
